Our pick of the top 5 winery tours in Ronda1. BadMan WinesFounded by Sinbad & Manuel (hence the name) in 2016, it was the dream of these two young winemakers to offer something new and fresh in the Serrania de Ronda and that is exactly what they have done. There wines are crafted to be the best they can from the subtle sweetness of the Muscatel, the aromatic Chardonnay, the fine flavours of red fruits in the Rosado, the classic young tempranillo to their full bodied Cabernet Sauvignon - Syrah. You will truly find it difficult to pick which one you prefer. We are pleased that in February 2020 they decided to choose a new venue for their winery which is right here at La Perla Blanca. We are the only hotel in Ronda with an onsite winery, so you can stagger out of the tasting and straight into the pool 😊 Bookings can be made directly on our website at the same time as booking a room or simply contact us 2. Bodega SchatzSchatz bodega was one of the first to open after the phylloxera pest killed off most of the vines throughout Europe in the late 1800's. Friedrich Schatz opened the bodega in 1982 bringing with him new techniques and different grape varieties for producing red, white and rose wines. The F. Schatz winery and vineyards, is located less than a 10 minute drive from La Perla Blanca and can be visited by appointment. Tours last around two hours and include wine tasting and tapas made with local produce. Tours can be booked through Milamores 3. Joaquín FernandezJoaquín Fernandez is classified as an organic bodega and is situated less than a 5 minute drive from La Perla Blanca. Moses conducts the tours and he takes you through the entire bodega, explaining why the region is so good for producing wines, through the winery and storage areas before tasting the wines with beautiful views over the countryside and to Ronda beyond. Tours can be booked through the website or contact us 4. Descalzos ViejosThis bodega and winery has it all, great wines, amazing location with beautiful views and gardens and buildings which are unbelievable. The current owners took over the property, which was an old convent, in 1998 and it went through a huge restoration project to create what we have today. The bodega itself is set in the old chapel with the fermentation chambers down either side of where the isle would have been and the barrel storage takes up the alter area. Tour can be booked on the website Bodega Doña FelisaFounded in 1999, Bodega Doña Felisa was born from the commitment of its founders, José Maria Losantos, and his wife Gema Alonso. Natives of Burgos, they discovered the city of Ronda and fell instantly in love. Not only with the City, but with this marvelous corner of Andalucía which offers such unequalled conditions for the elaboration of fine wines. This turned their passion for wine into a thriving business and a way of living. Bodega Doña Felisa is one hundred percent a family undertaking. Now with the second generation of the family consolidating this project, and ensuring that continues as one of the most renowned and innovative bodegas in Andalucía. Surrounded by Ronda´s mountains and located in an area known as CHINCHILLA also really close to Roman city of Acinipo,"Land of wine", where already in Roman times, first century before Christ, fine wines were produced to be exported to the whole Roman Empire. La Cascada
Without doubt, one of the finest restaurants in Ronda, La Cascada, is less than a five minute walk from La Perla Blanca. Serving international cuisine with Spanish influences, chef Ian Love, uses only the freshest, finest ingredients sourced locally. During the summer time you can dine al fresco on the riverside terrace, whilst during the cooler winter months, the inside restaurant oozes character and has a log burning fire. My favourite dish is the Thai Curry packed full of fresh vegetables and succulent prawns, whilst the larger appetite will enjoy the Spanish Chuleton beef steak, mouth watering and delicious. We can reserve you a table when you check-in at La Perla Blanca. 2. De Locas Tapas
What can we say that everybody else hasn't said already. A visit to Ronda is not complete without a dining experience at the amazing De Locas Tapas, the reviews of this place speak for themselves. Originating from the Basque Country - where food is almost a religion -, the characterful cheerful owner, Guillermo, will ensure you have an extraordinary time with dishes that will tingle every taste-bud in your body. Reservations are a must and you can either contact the restaurant directly or contact us to make the reservation for you. 3. El Muelle De Arriate
El Muelle De Arriate also known as "Frank's Place" is a stunning restaurant set in an old railway bunker close to the village of Arriate. On arrival, Frank the owner, will discuss the menu in detail with you and make recommendations to your taste. The food is exquisitely presented and cooked to perfection, and the service attentive but relaxed. Our top picks would be to choose one of their fabulously fresh salads to start (1 to share between 2 is plenty) and for meat lovers try the Iberian meat platter which includes several different cuts of succulent Iberian pork. There is also fresh fish and vegetarian options available. And did I mention the sunsets... wow 4. Venta Del Puente
For some traditional Spanish cuisine then you can't get more authentic than Venta Del Puente. At the weekend they do a fabulous BBQ with tasty meat and fish dishes, whilst during the week they serve a traditional 'Menu Del Dia'. The 'Menu Del Dia' is served in most restaurants in Spain and was originally introduced to provide a good meal for workers who could not go home for the midday meal. It usually consists of 3 courses with a drink and is priced from 8 to 14 euros. You can also choose from the a la carte menu. A great value restaurant at the end of a nice hike from La Perla Blanca 5. La Perla Blanca
Of course we feel one of the best dining experiences you will have, with the most spectacular views is right here at La Perla Blanca. Choose from our locally produced meat and international cheese platter, homemade gazpacho soup, the freshest chicken, prawn and mango salad or just a simple sandwich. Enjoy lunch under the shady willow tree or a quiet romantic dinner watching the stars under a clear Spanish night sky. ¡Buen Provecho!
Don't forget we also have you covered for early mornings with our almost famous breakfast basket. |
